window screen mesh types

Window Screen Pros offers a wide variety of window screen mesh materials, each of which is available in multiple colors. However, the aluminum types are limited to a few select colors. The most common material used for replacement screens has continued to be the fiberglass type for over a decade. Let's take a look at some of the type we offer and explain the best use cases for each.

Fiberglass Screen Mesh - Standard

This fiberglass material is offered in charcoal and silver/grey colors.Fiberglass window mesh is great for high traffic areas at your home or office. Also, if your window is near large shrubbery and has the potential of being touched during high winds, we strongly recommend using this material as it will resist dents and creases from branches, debris from lawnmowers & weed-eaters. Fiberglass screen mesh is our most popular choice almost two to one over the traditional aluminum screen mesh.

Pros Cons
Low price, cost effective
UV rays promote fading
Flexible and easy to install
Sharp objects can rip material
Will not crease, dent or unravel

Aluminum Screen Mesh

Aluminum screen mesh material is offered in charcoal and Brite/Silver colors. Aluminum window mesh is great for high traffic areas at your home or office.

Pros of Aluminum Screen Mesh: Stands up to UV over time, high temperature resistant, much more heavier-duty vs. fiberglass, corrosion resistant, has a very strong weave, it's metal!, and is preferred for most restoration projects

Cons of Aluminum Screen Mesh: It is more expensive, it is not easy to work with if you are considering making your own replacement window screens, aluminum does dent and crease if abused by debris, weather, or animals.
